Coolness points awarded to anyone who understands the reference in the title. (I need to get around to making an actual system for this.)
Well, I was doing some profound thinking. I've come to the conclusion that my generation is not cohesive. We essentially have nothing that gives us a common bond. There's nowhere to go and just hang around, not that anyone would want to go there anyway- everyone is too busy spending all their time glued to the screens of various electronics. My generation has no hobbies; it's just tv, music, internet, cell phones... All the time! For the love of God, get out of the house and socialize. I know it's awkward because you've lost any inkling of social skills and communication skills you may have once possessed, but it really isn't that hard.
On the other hand, we are in an era where someone can have nearly infinite knowledge just by pressing a button. This is the first time that people can be so quickly and completely informed about the world around them, the issues, the events. And they choose to spend their time arguing with strangers and looking at funny pictures. How lovely.
With the advent of so much technology, many people of my generation actually do choose to educate themselves (hooray!). But then we deal with the issue of being counted out of society. Most of the world disregards the viewpoints of teens and young adults, and that's bad, mmkay? That's one reason why we're not cohesive. We see what's going on in the world, with politics, with the environment, and we'd like to change it. We'd like to, but we don't know how. I feel like we want to be a part of something bigger than ourselves, something that we can be a part of and contribute to. We don't have any star power to help us out either; I don't know if you've really seen celebrities nowadays, but most of them are not to be looked up to.
I'd like to at least try to do something, but I'm really just talking to myself here, and my buddy Salimah, because this blog needs more traffic, and it definitely needs more people to post comments!!! *hint hint*
So here we are, we could spring into action at any moment... I could become the voice that moves a thousand bodies...... If you share this blog with your friends :)
